The monsoon rains have started almost suddenly. Last week I was in the East Coast of West Malaysia and the situation was not that bad. Then suddenly, this week, from Tuesday we heard the news from the local media that many low-lying parts of Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Kelantan were flooded.
Lucky me! I was supposed to go there but due to some glitches, somebody else had to go instead of me. The person who replaced me was stranded there and could not come back. The latest news from him was that he has to sleep in his car due to no hotel available. That’s bad.

Wooden table for my artist materials when doing painting. Also act as my dining table. The base of the legs can be adjusted so that there is no wobbling.
So I had some free time. Goody!
As I was saying, I had shifted house… Well, I had been arranging the furniture, repairing my daughter’s bedroom door which could not be closed smoothly, solving the low water pressure at the shower, adding an extra shelf to my cupboard, fixing an automatic light-sensor for my porch light, repairing my glass sliding door whose frame had came out and the bottom rollers had got stuck, hanging my framed painting, pulling out weeds and clearing out my garden, making a dining table and generally coping with the situation in my “new” house. Well, the free time helps.
I pulled out my drawing table from my bedroom to the hall, and then I realized that the location was rather dark – the previous owner of the house had all the glass sliding doors tinted. So I thought a table lamp would be most helpful.
With wood and tools available, it would be quite easy for me to fabricate one – custom-made to suit my requirement. At this time, it is still in the design stage, but I have sort of decided what I want to do. I will have to go to the hardware and electrical shop to purchase some items and then I should be able to have a light over my drawing table.
Then the artistic activities will follow …
