Today is Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone!

With all the three axes of the cnc machine physically able to work, my next attention was drawn to working out how to generate my own graphics or text that could be translated to G-code.

If you are not aware, G-code is the machine language that the machine understands. The cnc machine needed to read a program G-code in order to execute certain moves. I reckoned that I needed to find out how to convert a piece of graphic that I could draw in autocad or illustrator software and then turn it into G-code for the machine moves.

So to the internet I searched. There were several good ones. Many of them needed to be paid for but I found one that was free. It’s an open source software called Inkscape.

I quickly learned the basic steps and decided to create a Christmas message so that everyone would know who Jesus Christ was, as foretold 730 years before His birth:

For a child is born to us,
a son is given us;
the royal ornament is laid upon his shoulder,
and his name is proclaimed:
“Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
