Since the testing of the 3 axis stepper motors interface with the computer program was successful, my next task from now on will be to fabricate the mechanical parts of the cnc machine.
The dot matrix printer ink carriage would come in useful as it already had the timing belt and motor gear drive in place. All I need to do is to study it and separate the essential parts from those which would not be used. Those structure or components which could be separated by removing the securing bolts were the first items to be removed.
However, the printer manufacturer had molded the plastic structure to include all the components that I would want to remove. After a bit of study, I drew up lines for me to cut and remove.
My homemade manual saw made from an old jig-saw blade came in handy, because it was stronger than a normal hacksaw blade and was able to withstand some twisting in the hard-to-access spots.
